Fred Barlow
1921 - 1983
"Hell is the final and eternal doom of spiritually insane,
sin-deluded souls, fools who made a mock at sin (Prov.
14:9) when God had warned, 'Be sure your sin will find you out' (Num.
32:23). Hell is the eternal prison of the insane, soul-deluded
religionists who had the hallucination that they could get to Heaven by
morality, good works, church membership, confirmation, baptism-any
way-but who rejected Christ's sure, simple directions: 'I am the way, the
truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me' (John
14:6)."
In 1959 Dr. Fred M. Barlow was elected National Sunday school consultant
for Regular Baptist Press and the General Association of Regular Baptist
Churches. He held pastorates in New York, Ohio and Michigan.
Then
he began a ministry to local churches and multi-church Sunday school
conferences; held evangelistic campaigns; gave addresses to Bible
colleges and seminaries; and was active in summer Bible camp evangelism
and youth rallies. His sermons have been prize winners in sermon contests
held by the Sword of the Lord.
He
was the author of several books, including: Vitalizing Your Sunday School
Visitation, Special Days in the Sunday School, Timeless Truths, Profiles in Evangelism...Revival for Survival...and
several smaller booklets, including a biography of John R. Rice.
Dr.
Barlow was a native of southeastern West Virginia. He graduated from
Baptist Bible Seminary (now Baptist Bible College of Pennsylvania, Clarks
Summit, Pennsylvania) and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree
from Western Baptist Bible
College, Salem, Oregon.
Dr. and Mrs. Barlow were parents of four children. Dr. Barlow died in
1983.
