Our ministry is to help you understand more fully your financial responsibilities to God, family and government.  Everything you own and consider yours actually belongs to God.  He holds you accountable for all things entrusted to you during your lifetime.  Christ considered this financial responsibility important enough to go into great detail on many occasions through example.  Because of its importance, it is our purpose to help you become more knowledgeable in this area of Christian stewardship.

Christ's words in Acts 20:35, "It is more blessed to give than to receive," are a part of our basic way of life.  In actuality we have a built-in need to give; and when we express this need in a positive, meaningful way, we receive peace and joy within.

Dr. Shelton Smith

Many of you have been blessed greatly by THE SWORD OF THE LORD.  You have expressed your love and gratitude by cash giving, and the Lord has blessed you for each life changed and each soul won because of your gifts.  You may have wondered if there are other ways in which you can give so that you can plan your lifetime giving.  The answer is yes, indeed.

Our planned giving department can help you understand the necessity for a Christian Will; how to make investments with good interest returns; how to plan for retirement; plus how to satisfy your need to give financially to the Sword of the Lord Foundation to help in spreading the Gospel through our many ministries.  This concept, called "deferred giving" (making arrangements now for later giving), is not a new one.  It is discussed little these days, yet it has such great potential.  Deferred giving can save you taxes now and later, cut death costs, and allow you to give more to your loved ones and the Sword of the Lord Foundation at your death. Please contact us for more information concerning the following:

Wills: A Will is a written document, meeting certain legal requirements, that contains, among other things, instructions on how to distribute, at death, the property of the person making the Will.  The Will is one of the most popular vehicles for making long-range gifts to the Sword of the Lord Foundation.

Bequest:  This is the most common planned gift and represents your wishes regarding a gift to the Sword through your "Last Will and Testament."  This is the most frequently utilized deferred giving plan.

Securities:  This deferred giving method involves gifts of stocks and bonds to the Sword.  This method offers the donor some special tax advantages.

Life Insurance:  There are many ways to provide for the Sword and other ministries through life insurance.  A gift of life insurance can be arranged in different ways depending on the goals of the insured and the importance of tax advantages.

Life Estate Contracts:  A gift of real estate is given to the Sword by means of a  contract but life rights for use of the property remain with the donor.  Upon his death, the real estate becomes the property of the Sword.  Probate court costs and certain other settlement costs are avoided by this contract.  Also, the donor is entitled to a federal income tax deduction on the gift in the year in which the contract is made.
