On April 27, 1995, Dr. Shelton Smith became the Sword of the Lord’s third President and Editor.
Dr. Smith testifies often that he is a “product” of The Sword of the Lord. In 1963, someone sent an anonymous subscription to him. Dr. Smith says, “As a result, Dr. Rice re-tutored, re-trained and re-tooled me. My life and ministry changed. My best education came from the pages of The Sword of the Lord.”
As editor, he travels nearly every week, holding Sword campaigns across North America and around the world.
Bro. Morrison answered the call to preach in 1988. He was later ordained in 2003 by his home church, where he served as an assistant to his pastor for a period of two years before being sent out into the ministry.
He has previously served as a senior pastor in both West Virginia and Alabama before accepting the call to become Co-Pastor at Gospel Light Baptist Church in 2019. In 2021, Bro. Morrison became senior pastor.
He is married to Joy, his high school sweetheart and have been blessed with three wonderful children.
Bro. Leatherman attended Tennessee Temple University and graduated in 1986. He married Kathy whom he met while in college. God led the Leathermans to take the pastorate of Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church. Through soul winning and the preaching of God’s Word, the church began to grow and now has a thriving ministry.
Bro. Fugate became pastor of Clays Mill Baptist Church in 1991. Through the years, the church has started Commonwealth Baptist College, Clays Mill Road Baptist Academy and many other ministries. Bro. Fugate and Clays Mill Baptist Church have been instrumental in starting twenty new churches in Kentucky and other states. Bro. Fugate has authored several books and preaches regularly in national conferences.
Bro. Ross was saved at a young age and was called to preach in 1979. He met his future wife, Sheryl, while in college and has three daughters and ten grandchildren. Bro. Ross has served in the gospel ministry since graduating from Bible college, first as the pastor of Central Baptist Church in Brazil, IN, then as a full-time assistant pastor at Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Jasonville, IN, and now as the senior pastor of that same church.
In 1995, Bro. Belcher accepted a call to be the pastor of Church of the Open Door. He has been in the ministry for nearly 40 years. He was a pastor in West Virginia for 12 years and was the pastor of the Ridgewood Baptist Church in Joliet, IL for 5 years prior to his move to Westminster. Dr. Belcher currently resides in Westminster, MD with his wife, Karen. They have three children and eight grandchildren.
Bro. Wells was saved in 1979 and surrendered to preach in 1982. After graduating from Bible college, he served 10 years as an assistant pastor and youth director. In 1994, he became the pastor of Union City Baptist Temple in Union City, TN. In 2010, Dr. Wells assumed the position as pastor of Parkside Baptist Church and continues to serve the Lord there. Bro. Wells and his wife, Sylvia, together have four children and six grandchildren.
Bro. Godsey was saved in 1983. Two decades later, God called him to preach, and the following semester, he enrolled in Midwestern Baptist College.
He currently resides in Michigan with his wife, Meagan, and three daughters. Bro. Godsey has been in full time evangelism since 2005. He has held hundreds of revival meeting in local churches, under tents, in tabernacles, and youth camps across America.
Bro. Harper was saved at the age of eight and called to preach at the age of thirteen. In 1981, he went to Tennessee Temple University. In 1994, he began attending Ambassador Baptist College. During this time the Lord allowed him to serve as assistant pastor of a local church and to maintain an active pulpit ministry. It is his desire to remain a focused and faithful servant for God.
Bro. Townsley and his wife, Janet, upon graduating from college in 1975, founded Central Baptist Church in Southington, CT. Under his leadership, the church began Central Christian Academy, New England School of the Bible, and New England Baptist College. Bro. Townsley is the author of several books and a leader in church planting, holding conferences nationwide.
Bro. Arthur is the pastor of Harvest Baptist Tabernacle in Jonesboro, GA. He also preaches revivals, camp meetings and conferences across the nation and serves as the director of the Greer Baptist Camp Meeting located in Greer, SC and co-moderator of the Independent Baptist Fellowships of Georgia.
Bro. Allison married his wife, Janet, shortly after high school and was saved in 1971. They have two daughters, Kathy and Kari. He was called to preach in 1974 and graduated from Tennessee Temple College in 1976. He has been pastor of Madison Baptist Church in Madison, AL since 1989.
Bro. Hamblin has been in full-time evangelism since 1979. During that time, he has held hundreds of meetings in fundamental churches all across America and Canada.
DAN CARR, SR.
Bro. Dan Q. Carr, Sr has been the Pastor of Faith Baptist Church since its inception. His passion for the Bible is shown in his dedication to the Church, to his flock, and to his family. Pastor Carr has been an adamant Soul Winner, following the Scripture of Proverbs 11:30, "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise."
For years Bro. Rossi’s heart passion and life burden has been to see revival, evangelism and spiritual growth in local Churches throughout North America. He was saved at the age of 19 and in Bible college, he met his wife Susan. In December, 2012 the Lord called Pastor and Mrs. Rossi to Granite Baptist Church and have faithfully served there since.
Bro. Alquist accepted Christ in 1975 and was ordained in 1984. He has been the moderator of the Tri-State Independent Fundamental Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship since 1997. Bro. Alquist and his wife Melva together have twin daughters.
Bro. Wynne graduated from Bible college, where he met his wife, Deborah. Together they have eight children. Bro. Wynne holds a degree in Pastoral Theology and a Master of Education.
In a city of 32 million people, God is doing a tremendous work through Mount Zion Baptist Church. Since 2004, Global Baptist Church Planters has partnered with Bro. Wynne to start twenty new churches.
