USA, Israel and Iran

When Jesus said that a day would come when there would be “wars and rumours of wars” (Matt. 24:6), it was a warning of things to come.
For the past 100 years or so, the USA has had first one conflict only to be faced with another one in a short time. The “war to end all wars” (WWI) only set the stage for a bigger one (WWII) just twenty-five years later.
For the past forty-seven years, Iran (an Islamic regime) has rattled its sabers of hatred toward Israel and America. Iran has said repeatedly that Israel is “the little Satan” and America is “the big Satan.” They hate Israel because Israelis are Jews, and they hate America because we stand with Israel.
In mid-June, Israel and America took action to eliminate Iran’s nuclear bomb program. It appears that the well-orchestrated military operation was a full success. Now, Iran is threatening retaliation, but as of now, they have not reacted.
So what’s what on all this?
1. Iran’s regime is a dangerous, radical, bloodthirsty Islamic outfit. Reportedly, only about 20% of the Iranian people are on board with the regime. If another leader is elected, it will still be Islamic because the country is heavily involved in Islam.
2. As the only democratic nation in that region of the world, Israel is the USA’s number one ally in the Middle East.
3. The Abrahamic covenant that God gave centuries ago (Gen. 12:1–3) has not been revoked. Based on that covenant, with its promises and its warnings, American Christians have been the best friends Israel ever had.
4. Thankfully, both Israel and America have strong leaders. Both the President and the Prime Minister have tried to settle this conflict without going to war, but to no avail.
5. Taking out the Iranian nuclear capability is a good step that needed to be done. Personally, I think our leaders should have acted much sooner.
6. China and Russia will be mouthy, but they will, I believe, avoid serious confrontation with the United States.
7. Is the danger over? No, it is not over. We live in a dangerous world with many ungodly madmen. Some of them will gain power, and who knows what they will do next?
8. Should we stand up to tyrants? Absolutely! Read through the Old Testament. Moses held up his rod over the Red Sea, and a large number of Egyptians were eliminated. Elijah stood up to the 850 phony clergymen, and God removed them. David didn’t wimp out in the face of Goliath.
As much as we dislike war, it is sometimes prudent and necessary. For the well-being of our families and the security of our country, we cannot let the perpetrators of terrorism have free rein.
9. On the other side of the coin, we need to flood these heathen countries with whatever gospel witness we can employ.
10. We are not warmongers (neither is the USA nor Israel), but we are not pacifists either. If a dog barks, you may want to get him on a chain, or he may bite you. We should not let these rogue nations kill us off a few people at a time.
These are my observations and conclusions. I know some Christians will react to what I’m saying because they always assume that something else could have been done.
In this case, I believe patience had been fully utilized and finally exhausted.
I’m thankful that Mr. Trump and Mr. Netanyahu have taken strong action; and, if necessary, I’m sure they will do it again.
May the Lord God in Heaven give grace and mercy to us and let us have the opportunity to convert as many people in the Middle East as possible.
Whether Jew or Gentile, rich or poor, male or female, whoever, I’m happy to tell you that “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
As we go about trumpeting that wonderful truth, let’s stand firm, stand tall and fearlessly stand up against the bad guys who hate and kill so freely.
God bless America. God bless Israel. God bless our leaders, and God bless the ambassadors of faith who keep doing the business of God in the midst of all the hate, hurt and hostility.
